Precious Metal Clay (1999-2008)
This work was made as a process and material investigation of Precious Metal Clay. Precious Metal Clay is a unique material that is composed of finely ground fine silver, 24k gold, bronze or copper powder mixed with a vegetable binder and water. This combination creates a material that has the consistency of porcelain clay but when it is fired for a specific time and temperature, forms solid metal. I was very excited to experiment with this newly developed material since I had been working in ceramics for a number of years before returning to school for degrees in jewelry/metals.
